Part Three

As the girls all settled into their rooms at the Lodge, North made her way into the office to see her good friends Kristen and Scott. "Hey you two. Long time no see."

"North! Oh are we glad to see you again. Sorry we couldn't be there for you when you got here but we had a small crisis on our hands in the kitchen that needed tending to." Scott and Kristen got up and gave North a big hug and kiss.

"No problem Scott, Kris. I made sure the girls got to the right rooms." North smiled. "Any idea when the rest of the gang is going to show?"

"Rest of the gang North? Don't you mean a certain individual?" Kristen knew her friend well and was glad that she had made friends with Eugene and his wife. "Well those two will be coming in tomorrow and the others should be arriving some time the next day. We have the talent show scheduled for Friday night."

"Great."

"Yeah we thought so too. This way the girls can get all settled in and enjoy the other things we have going on right now." Scott looked to his wife, "Is the barn just about ready Kris?"

"Yup. Mark was doing the finishing up when I left earlier."

"Barn? I thought you guys just finished with that at Christmas?"

"Oh nothing major North." Scott was quick to point out. "We just wanted to make the stage a little bigger so we had Mark extend the front of it just a bit. It needed a bit of reinforcing as well so we got that done at the same time."

"Phew. I thought maybe you guys were making some major changes just for the show."

Kristen put her arm around North's shoulder, "Come on. I'll show you what was done. It will give you a chance to relax away from the girls and their chatter and then we can have a nice cup of tea, chat and get caught up on our lives."

Putting her arm around Kristen's waist the two of them left by way of the side door. "Oh that sounds wonderful Kris. We do have some catching up to do."

The day of the show dawned bright and beautiful. The sun was out, it looked to be warming up nicely and with the gentle breeze the bugs were held at bay. The girls were kept busy getting ready for the evening's show. They had had the chance to meet the cast the night before at a dinner that Kristen and Scott held in honor of them coming again.

They had been delighted, for the most part, with the idea of the talent show. Roy hadn't been too thrilled with the idea of singing but being the good sport that he was managed to agree to do the skit they had lined up for him.

Don couldn't help but go into a fit of laughter when he saw what his song would be. He'd never live this one down he thought. Not that he couldn't do it. Heck he loved to sing and act. He was born for singing and acting.

Eugene had just about bust a gut when he saw the duet he was singing with Alberta and after showing it to her she did the same.

Lawrence… the actor, who played Davenport, was visiting for the first time and even though he wasn't going to be singing… he would be part of the act with one of his most fervent fans.

Peta thought her song was fitting and Matthew wasn't too sure what to make of his choice. Oh well, he'd get through it somehow. He was looking forward to seeing what everyone else was doing.

Carlo, whose first visit this was also was thoroughly enjoying himself getting to know the girls.

The lights were dimmed and everyone settled in their seats until their time came for being on stage. The spotlight came on illuminating Carlo who had agreed to be the Emcee for the evening. "Good Evening ladies and gentlemen. It is my pleasure to present the First Annual Pinehaven Talent Show. Sit back, get comfortable as we entertain you with some songs and skits that are somewhat related to the show La Femme Nikita and are from the wonderful 60's." There was applause as the light dimmed and the first act came on stage. "For our first performance I want you to welcome Sherry who will be singing the song, 'All I Have to do is Dream'. We all know how she pines over Michael especially with the rivalry that has been going on between her and her fellow CLHQer Rita. "

Sherry cleared her throat, walked out to center stage and started to sing all the while clinging to a picture of her 'Michael'.

Drea-ea-ea-ea-eam, dream, dream, dream
Drea-ea-ea-ea-eam, dream, dream, dream
When I want you in my arms
When I want you and all your charms
Whenever I want you, all I have to do is
Drea-ea-ea-ea-eam, dream, dream, dream

When I feel blue in the night
And I need you to hold me tight
Whenever I want you, all I have to do is
Drea-ea-ea-ea-eam

I can make you mine, taste your lips of wine
Anytime night or day
Only trouble is, gee whiz
I’m dreamin’ my life away

I need you so that I could die
I love you so and that is why
Whenever I want you, all I have to do is
Drea-ea-ea-ea-eam, dream, dream, dream
Drea-ea-ea-ea-eam

I can make you mine, taste your lips of wine
Anytime night or day
Only trouble is, gee whiz
I’m dreamin’ my life away

I need you so that I could die
I love you so and that is why
Whenever I want you, all I have to do is
Drea-ea-ea-ea-eam, dream, dream, dream
Drea-ea-ea-ea-eam, dream, dream, dream

FADE
Drea-ea-ea-ea-eam, dream, dream, dream

Carlo walked back onto the stage once Sherry had exited and once the applause had died down started to introduce the next act. "Next up folks we have none other than the man who plays Davenport. Lawrence is going to sing the next song to one of our guests… If I could have Kathy come up and join us on stage please?"

Kathy looked around in confusion. "Certainly they don't mean me do they?"

Nikita Fire was sitting beside her and nudged her. "Of course they do. I don't know of any other Kathy's around here. And besides… who else has this 'thing' for Davenport?"

"Well Kit for one."

"Ahh but they didn't call for her now did they? Come on, you're holding things up. Get up there and just have fun."

Part Four

Kathy reluctantly got up off her chair and joined Lawrence up on stage. When he went into the first lines of the song… she was laughing along with everyone else even if she did feel a bit embarrassed.

CHORUS

Don’t want your lo-o-o-o-ove anymore
Don’t want your ki-i-i-i-isses, that’s for sure
I die each time I hear this sound
"Here he co-o-o-o-omes, that’s Cathy’s clown"

I’ve gotta stand tall, you know a man can’t crawl
But when he knows you tell lies and he hears ‘em passin’ by
He’s not a man at all

CHORUS

When you see me shed a tear and you know that it’s sincere
Dontcha think it’s kinda sad that you’re treatin’ me so bad
Or don’t you even care

CHORUS

FADE
That’s Cathy’s clown
That’s Cathy’s clown

When he finished the song he leaned over whispered something in Kathy's ear making her blush even more and kissed her on the cheek. Everyone stood up and cheered as he led her from the stage and Carlo came back out. "Now wasn't that sweet? Well if you thought that was… wait until you get a load of our next act. I'm not sure if you'll recognize this couple though." He added with a laugh. "Next up for our entertainment are none other than Sonny and Cher!!"

The girls all looked to one another in confusion. Sonny and Cher? But when they saw who it was that came out on stage they all erupted in laughter. There was Eugene, on his knees with a black beatle-type hair wig and Alberta in stiletto heels and long black hair wearing a gown that was split up to her hip. They gave a bow to the audience before launching into their song…

HER: They say we're young and we don't know
We won't find out until we grow
HIM: Well I don't know if all that's true
'Cause you got me, and baby I got you

HIM: Babe
BOTH: I got you babe
I got you babe

HER: They say our love won't pay the rent
Before it's earned, our money's all been spent
HIM: I guess that's so, we don't have a pot
But at least I'm sure of all the things we got

HIM: Babe
BOTH: I got you babe
I got you babe

HIM: I got flowers in the spring
I got you to wear my ring
HER: And when I'm sad, you're a clown
And if I get scared, you're always around

HER: Don't let them say your hair's too long
'Cause I don't care, with you I can't go wrong
HIM: Then put your little hand in mine
There ain't no hill or mountain we can't climb

HIM: Babe
BOTH: I got you babe
I got you babe

HIM: I got you to hold my hand
HER: I got you to understand
HIM: I got you to walk with me
HER: I got you to talk with me
I got you to kiss goodnight
I got you to hold me tight
I got you, I won't let go
I got you to love me so

BOTH: I got you babe
I got you babe
I got you babe
I got you babe
I got you babe

They finished the song with a flourish, Eugene stood up and with the applause still thundering behind them, walked off the stage. Carlo came back onstage clapping and he commented, "I bet you never thought you would see that side to 'Operations and Madeline' now did you?" There were choruses of 'no' and 'never' and when they finally settled down enough, Carlo went to introduce the next act. "Well guys and gals, our next performer is none other than our very own Curlly! No, no… not one of the 'Three Stooges' he laughed.. but… then again… I'll let you judge for yourselves." He chuckled as Curlly came onto the stage while the audience gasped!!

Curlly was dressed in a short white leather mini-skirt, midriff baring top, her hair piled into a beehive and white leather boots that went up just past her knees. After glaring at the audience and daring them to snicker she went to center stage and started to sing…

You keep saying you got something for me
Something you call love but confess
You've been a'messin' where you shouldn't 've been a'messin'
And now someone else is getting all your best
Well, these boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do
One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you

You keep lyin' when you oughta be truthin'
You keep losing when you oughta not bet
You keep samin' when you oughta be a'changin'
What's right is right but you ain't been right yet
These boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do
One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you
LEADBREAK
You keep playing where you shouldn't be playing
And you keep thinking that you'll never get burnt (HAH)
Well, I've just found me a brand new box of matches (YEAH)
And what he knows you ain't had time to learn
These boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do
One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you
SPOKEN
Are you ready, boots?
Start walkin'

When the last strains of the music died down everyone stood up and applauded. Curlly pirouetted once and headed offstage with one final look over her shoulder. Carlo walked back onstage as they all settled down into their chairs again. "Well folks, we're going to take a short intermission while we get set up for our next acts. We have snacks and refreshments set up at the back of the room and if you'll just help yourselves, we'll start up again in about 20 minutes."
