Oh, it was okay if you had a honey, but if you didn't, you truly hated this day each year. But, this year she had made it her New Year's resolution to NOT let the holiday get her down. In the past she had always *vegged* out in front of the television, watching some sappy old movie, and horking down chocolate covered bon bons. The very image this produced made her smile.
No, this year, it would be different. No *vegging* out, no sappy movies, and ABSOLUTELY no horking of bon bons!! This year, she would live vicariously through others. She would read her new book, and pretend she were the women of the stories. She would transport herself into their world...thier lives...and feel their loves.
As she picked up the book, and opened it, she looked around her, making sure no one noticed. Although it was true she was on her lunch break, time that she could spend however she wanted, she did not want them to see her reading a romance book. She had a reputation as a non-romantic to protect.
