Mother Nature's Surprise

By... Sherry

Kit arrived at Sherry's place an hour late and looking frazzled. Sherry smiled to herself. She knew why Kit was late ... getting the family off in different directions took time. Still, she was impatient. They had been planning this get away for months. And now the time was here and she was anxious to get going. They were going camping — in Canada. Having never been to Canada, Sherry was genuinely excited. She was so glad North had extended the invitation.

As they were loading their gear in the car, Sherry said "I can't wait to get there." Kit laughed. "I know. You've only said that about 5 times since I got here!" Sherry laughed. "Yeah, well, what can I say. I love camping and I can't wait to see North!'"

Sherry threw her sleeping bag, lawn chair and suitcase into the backseat of Kit's car. "I still can't believe you are taking a lawn chair. I thought you wanted to "get back to nature," Kit chided. Sherry smiled. "I do, I just don't want to sleep on the ground. I have enough back problems, thank you very much." Kit simply shook her head. They did one last check to make sure they had everything and then they were off.

It was quite a long drive to Canada from south central Pennsylvania, so, when they got bored, Kit and Sherry entertained themselves by making up story ideas for their favorite tv show, La Femme Nikita. "I've got one," Kit said. "How about Madeline and Nikita disappear from Section without a trace. And no one knows what's up." Sherry smiled. "I like it. Can you just imagine the ‘men of Section' running around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to find their women!" They both laughed at the image that conjured up. Kit could hardly stop laughing, "Yeah just picture Operations ... he'd go berserk. And Michael ... he might actually lose the blank stare!"

Sherry threw Kit "one of those looks." Kit laughed again. "Okay, okay, I know ... lay off Michael. Of course, he would be super spy and the only one that kept his wits about him and would most certainly save the day." Sherry laughed. "Yep, now you get the idea!" They continued to throw story ideas back and forth until they couldn't come up with anymore.

It was well into the evening when they finally arrived at North's home. North threw the door open and ran out to meet her friends. "Come on in you guys. I was beginning to worry. Thought you might have had some trouble." Sherry smiled. "No, no trouble. Someone was just late coming to pick me up." Kit huffed. "Well, you try to get your car packed while getting your kids off to camp and your husband off to work, leaving him instructions on what's what while you're gone. Then talk to me about being late!" All three women laughed and went into the house. They were spending the night at North's and setting out for their destination early the next day.

The morning dawned bright and sunny. The weather report called for beautiful weather the remainder of the week. The temperatures would be in the 70s and the humidity would be low. Perfect camping weather. The ladies loaded their things into North's four-wheel drive and headed for the campsite. As they traveled they caught up on everything happening in each other's lives and with their mutual friends.

After a few hours North announced "Here we are. We can take the vehicle to our site to unload, but we have to bring it back here and park it." It didn't take long to get the vehicle unloaded. Kit said she would stay with their gear while North and Sherry took the car back to the parking area. After the car was secured in the parking lot, Sherry and North hiked back to the site.

Once they returned, the girls began setting up their tent. They had never laughed so hard in their lives as they did trying to get the tent up. North said she knew exactly how to put it up. They started out okay, but about halfway through the procedure, the tent collapsed on top of Sherry. Once Sherry was extricated from the tent, they tried again. This time it was North that got tangled up in the tent and its ropes. Finally, after lots of laughter and a few trial runs, they got the tent up. Then they moved their sleeping bags and other things inside.

By this time they were hungry. Rummaging through the cooler they had brought along they found sandwich makings and potato chips. They each grabbed a soda and sat down on their camping chairs to enjoy the small repast. "So," North began, "what do you want to do for the rest of the day?"

Kit rolled her eyes because she knew what Sherry was gonna say. Sherry smiled at North and answered, "We have to go exploring. We have to go looking for wildlife. I brought my camera along to get all kinds of pictures. And I just have to get pictures of you two in the wild so I can share them with the CLHQ. They are gonna love it!"

"Oh no you don't," North exclaimed. "You are not going to post pictures of me in the wild on the Internet. Not unless we get you in there too." Sherry laughed ... "Well, as long as I have the camera, I don't see how that's gonna happen!" Kit and North started chasing Sherry down the nearest trail, trying to get the camera from her. Sherry finally gave up and let them catch her. "Okay, okay, I give. Go ahead, take my picture ... just let me catch my breath first!" Once they all "caught their breath," Kit grabbed the camera and had North and Sherry pose in front of a small group of pine trees and took their picture.

"Well, now that that's out of the way, let's go ladies," Sherry announced. "We've got some serious hiking to do!" Kit looked at North and they both groaned. "Hey, drill sergeant. How about easing up a bit. We have a few days up here. We don't have to do everything today," Kit called after her. Sherry laughed. "Oh, not to worry. We won't." North and Kit groaned again and took off after her.

They spent the next few days exploring the local woodlands, taking pictures and just relaxing and enjoying each other's company. They got to know each other really well. They shared recipes, jokes, stories, dreams, long walks and secrets. It was a great time for each of them.

************

On the last day of their trip, they decided to take one last hike through the woods. Sherry wanted to leave the trail and follow the small stream that was down the hill from the trail. After a little cajoling, she managed to convince North and Kit that it would be okay. After all, the trail was just up the hill from the stream, so they really couldn't get lost. And there was a trail marker at the top of the hill they descended, so they could use that as their landmark when they returned. That way they would know where to come back up to the trail. So the trio set out at a brisk pace. After a while, they slowed down as they took pictures of wildflowers and wildlife they saw along the way. No one was paying much attention to the weather until it started to get dark. It took them a while to notice because they were deeper in the woods than they had previously been and the trees blocked out the sun. Sherry made a comment about the cloud cover, but no one was particularly concerned. They continued walking along until all of a sudden the wind picked up tremendously. Then the sky got very dark.

"Oh no," North exclaimed. "We're in trouble now." Kit looked concerned. "Why? What's wrong?" The girls stopped walking when North voiced her concern. North pointed up to the sky. "I think we're in for one of those freak storms we get up here occasionally. They can be very fierce. Wind, rain ... sometimes hail and flooding. I think we better turn back right now." They all agreed and headed back the way they had come.

They hadn't gone very far when the first drops started falling. The girls began to walk a little faster, but it wasn't helping. It seemed the faster they walked, the faster it rained and the stronger the wind blew. The trees around them were beginning to sway and bend and the wind was howling. The rain was coming down in a torrent by this time. As they hurried along, Sherry slipped on a wet rock and went down in a heap. As she hit the ground she yelled out in pain. North and Kit ran over to her to see what had happened. As they tried to help her up, Sherry cried out in pain again. "It's my ankle," Sherry said.

Kit, being a nurse, bent down to check out the ankle. "Well, it doesn't appear to be broken. I think you've sprained it pretty badly. It's gonna hurt like heck for a while, but you'll be fine. As soon as we get out of here, I'll wrap it for you and find some ice to put on it." Sherry nodded. "But first things first," North said. "We've got to get out of here. Can you walk on your ankle?" Sherry tried putting weight on it. It was painful, but she could walk.

As they continued back toward the campsite, North happened to see a large stick laying off to the side. She ran over and picked it up, then handed it to Sherry. "Here, you can use this as walking stick. Maybe it will help a little." Sherry thanked North and they headed off again.

The rain began pelting them even harder. And now they were walking much slower due to Sherry's ankle. And, of course, by this time they were completely soaked. The thunder and lightening was starting to get fierce. The driving rain was hitting them to their left, which caused them to keep their faces turned toward the right, trying to maintain their ability to see where they were going.

They walked for quite a while before Sherry said, "Uh, guys ... I think we have another problem. I think we've gone too far. We probably missed our trail marker. Seems like we've been walking quite a while. I really don't think we went quite this far in the other direction." Kit sighed. "Great. Now what?"

North, ever the practical one, said "Well, we have got to get out from under these trees. That lightening is getting sharper by the minute. And we are all going to get pneumonia if we don't soon get out of this rain. Let's keeping going, but watch for a field or a cabin or something where we can get out of the woods."

The girls walked along for another fifteen minutes when Kit spotted a field to the right. "Over there. I think we can get over there into that field." North and Sherry looked to where she was pointing. "You're right, Kit, let's head over that way." North and Kit helped Sherry navigate over the rocks and tree branches as they headed through the woods and away from the stream. As they moved off in the other direction, a particularly loud clap of thunder sounded, making them all jump. At the same time, lightening struck a tree that was very near to where they had been standing. Part of the tree fell. If Kit hadn't found the field and headed them off in this direction, the tree would have fallen on them. "Thank heavens you found that field, Kit. Somebody is certainly watching out for us," Sherry exclaimed.

Once they reached the field, they felt better, but they still getting drenched and were about frozen. The wind was blowing ferociously and whipping dirt, leaves and small branches all around. They started wandering through the field. About ten minutes later, Sherry spotted what looked like an old house on the other side of the field. "Look. Is that a house down there? Maybe they'll let us at least get out of the rain."

North and Kit both smiled. "Let's go. I've had about all the soaking I can take," North yelled. They trio headed toward the house. As they got closer, they noticed it was an old farmhouse. There was also a barn a small distance from the house. "Hopefully they'll at least let us stay in the barn until the storm passes," Kit called over another clap of thunder.

About that time, two dogs came rushing toward them. The girls stopped and watched the dogs approach. They were barking, but they were also wagging their tails. Sherry, who loved dogs, waited until they approached and began to sniff her. Then she reached out her hand and petted them. They were very friendly dogs, for which all three of them were extremely grateful. The last thing they needed now was to be attacked by a couple of guard dogs.

Just then a figure began approaching from the farmhouse. The person was dressed in rain gear, and was calling out something in what sounded like another language. They couldn't really hear him. Apparently he was talking to the dogs because they both turned and ran back to him. Then he and the dogs disappeared from sight.

"Well, apparently he's not much for helping others, is he?" North exclaimed. "You'd think he'd at least ask if we needed any help!" "Yeah, anyway," Sherry growled. Her ankle was really hurting and she was getting tired and grumpy. They continued toward the farmhouse. They were a short distance from the house when the man appeared again. He headed in their direction. They watched him closely. "Well, at least he's not carrying a shotgun," Sherry said.

The man approached and said "Please, come to my house. You look like you could use something warm to drink and I have some towels for you to dry off." They still couldn't really see who the man was between the driving rain and the rain gear he was wearing. But they noticed he had a French accent. "Thank you," North answered. "We really appreciate it."

************

Once they arrived on the stranger's porch, he pulled up a chair for Sherry and she sat down. When the man had disappeared earlier, he had apparently gone inside to get towels for them because there was a pile of them laying on the table next to Sherry's chair. They each grabbed one and began drying off as best they could. Of course, they were still in soaking wet clothes, but at least they were out of the rain. A few minutes later the man returned to the porch carrying a tray with cups of hot coffee for them.

As he walked out on the porch, North gasped. Sherry and Kit turned to see what was wrong. They noticed she was staring in the direction of their host. "Great," Sherry thought, now he's probably got a gun, or an axe or something." She turned to look in the man's direction and she couldn't believe her eyes. Kit was likewise stunned. "It's you ... I mean ... you're him," she said. He smiled. "Yes, it's me. But I'm afraid you have me at a disadvantage."

North recovered her composure first. "I'm sorry, Mr. Dupuis. We just weren't expecting this to be your home." Roy smiled. "Please call me Roy. And don't apologize. I'm used to it." North nodded. "By the way, I'm North and this is Sherry and Kit." Roy shook each of their hands. "It is very nice to meet you ladies."

Sherry finally found her voice. "We're sorry to impose on you like this. We know you value your privacy." Roy nodded. "Yes, I do, but do not worry. This is, after all, a bit of an emergency, no? And we are all here to help each other, are we not." Sherry nodded and replied "Well, thank you again." Roy smiled and then replied, "I believe you are injured. Is there anything I can get for you?"

Nurse Kit came to the rescue. "Yes, we could use some ice. She's sprained her ankle pretty badly." "Of course," Roy answered and went back inside to get the ice. He returned a few seconds later. "Ladies, I'm sorry. Please come inside. It is warmer in here and you really should get out of those wet clothes." The three exchanged glances. What to do? Besides, they didn't have anything to change into. North spoke up. "We appreciate it, Roy, but we don't have anything to change into and we don't want to mess up your home." Roy smiled. "Do not worry about my house. It is a place to live and enjoy, not a museum. And I have some robes I believe you can wear until your clothes are dry." As an afterthought he added, "And I promise to be a perfect gentleman." "Oh darn," Sherry muttered under her breath, but he heard her anyway. He simply smiled and walked inside to get the robes.

As the girls changed into their borrowed robes, Roy rearranged furniture in his living room so that Sherry could have a chair with a footstool to prop her foot up on. Then he went and retrieved the ice and an ace bandage. North grabbed their wet clothes and asked Roy where the dryer was. He pointed her in the right direction. Kit was helping Sherry hobble toward the nearest chair. "Here," Roy called, "let me help you. I have a bandage and some ice for you over here." With that, he walked over and wrapped an arm around Sherry's waist and helped her to the chair he had arranged for her. He sat her down on the chair and then picked up her leg and propped it on the chair. Sherry had removed her shoe when she removed her wet clothes and her foot had immediately swollen to the size of what looked like a huge watermelon.

Kit picked up the ace bandage and wrapped Sherry's leg. Then she turned to Roy. "Roy, do you have any ibuprofen or motrin?" Roy thought for a moment and then said, "Yes. I will be right back with it." As soon as he was out of the room, Kit said, "So, lucky lady, how does it feel to be fussed over by Roy Dupuis?" Sherry laughed. "It feels embarrassing, that's how it feels! And just look at us ... we look like drowned rats!" North entered the room in time to hear that exchange. "Well, just think what a story you'll have to tell all the CLHQers when we get back. You will be the envy of the list!"

Roy returned with the motrin and a glass of water He had also heard the exchange. "Let me say that you three are the most lovely drowned rats I have ever encountered." Sherry blushed profusely and North and Kit burst out laughing. Roy joined in the laughter too.

Once Sherry had taken the pills and Kit had placed the ice on her foot, everyone sat down to relax and wait for the clothes to dry. They had been sitting there for about 10 minutes when everything went dark.

"Ah, it seems the storm has knocked out the power," Roy explained. "I will get some candles and light them. And I will light the fireplace. At least that way you will stay warm." Kit smiled. "Can you imagine ... stuck in a cabin with Roy Dupuis and no electricity. Sitting by a fire in the candlelight."

Sherry huffed, "Yeah, and with an ankle the size of Texas!" North laughed. "So, does it feel any better?" Sherry groaned. "Not really. The pills have taken the edge off the pain, but it's still pretty painful. I guess it will be for a while." Kit nodded. "Yes, it will take at least a week for the worst of it to heal, and then it will still bother you for a while." Sherry smirked. "And thank you for those words of comfort." Kit laughed. "My, my .. someone is grouchy. What do you say North? Maybe we should just get our clothes and leave her here?" Sherry stared at her. "Don't even think about it! Well ... not that it would be THAT bad."

Roy returned with the candles and the room took on a lovely glow. "You have a beautiful home, Roy," North said. "Thank you," Roy replied. "I love it here. It is my retreat away from the world of celebrity and all that goes with it." Kit sighed. "And here we are intruding on your peace and quiet." Roy smiled. "Don't apologize. As I said before, it was an emergency. I'm not averse to meeting people, I just don't like to be pestered all the time. I need some time to relax and regroup."

Roy extended an invitation for the girls to spend the night. Their clothes couldn't dry without electricity and he didn't want to send them back out into the storm. He showed them to his guest rooms and then went to make some supper for them. They girls returned to the living room and ate the wonderful meal Roy had prepared for them. They discussed all kinds of things during their meal ... where they were from, movies, books, hobbies, places they had visited. It was a wonderful time and Roy was a gracious host.

Sometime during the evening, Roy's dogs came into the room and both stationed themselves on either side of Sherry. Roy noticed. "The dogs like you. It is not often that they take to strangers." Sherry smiled and reached down to pet them. "Well, I guess they can tell that I love animals." Roy nodded. "Yes, animals seem to be able to sense things about people better than we can."

After a while North announced that she couldn't keep her eyes open any longer and was going to bed. Kit decided to go too, so Sherry moved to get up. Kit and North moved to help her, but Roy got there first. "Please, allow me." So Roy once again wrapped an arm around Sherry's waist and helped her to the nearest guest room. Sherry thanked him and then said goodnight. "Good night, cherie, and I hope you have a good night's sleep." North and Kit had decided to stay together in the other room, that way Sherry would have a bed to herself so no one would inadvertently kick her injured ankle. After getting Sherry settled, he went to see if they needed anything.

************

Sherry laid down and tried to sleep. Her ankle hurt too much. She tossed and turned for an hour or so, but she just couldn't sleep. She decided to get up and see if the pills were still on the end table where she had left them. She would take two more and see if that helped any. She made her way slowly into the living room. She spotted the bottle on the table and took out two pills. Just as she turned to head to the kitchen for some water, Roy spoke. "Are you in pain? Can't sleep?" Sherry almost jumped out of her skin.

Roy smiled. He was sitting near the fire with his dogs on the floor at his feet. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to frighten you. I was just sitting here relaxing. Please, sit. I will get you some water." Sherry sank down on the sofa and thanked him once again. Roy returned with the water, and noticed that the dogs had once again repositioned themselves by Sherry's side. "You seem to have made quite the hit with my dogs. I've never before seen them take to a new person like that." He then sat down across from her. They talked quietly for a while and then sat silently, staring into the fire for a few moments. Roy looked up and saw Sherry studying him. "Go ahead, ask me," he said.

Sherry was startled. She hadn't realized he had caught her staring. "Ask you what?" she stammered. Roy laughed. "You wanted to ask me about La Femme Nikita and Michael. Go ahead." Sherry smiled. "How ...how did you know?" Roy laughed. "Oh, I know a true fan when I see one. And you have all avoided the subject of Nikita the whole time you've been here. It's unusual for people to do that. I know you are being polite, and I appreciate it. So, I will return the favor by answering your questions to the best of my ability. So go ahead, ask."

Sherry smiled and asked him about Michael and how he really felt about the character. What he feels Michael's true motivations are. That started them on a long discussion of Michael and all that is LFN. Of course, Roy didn't give any secrets away, but it was great sitting there discussing the show with him. Sherry was finally beginning to relax, and she realized she was getting very tired. She finally spoke. "I'm sorry. You must be very tired. I should let you get to bed now." When she made to get up, but Roy stopped her. "Please, don't get up. Why don't you just go ahead and stretch out there on the sofa. He pulled an afghan off of a nearby chair and spread it over her. "I will stay in the guest room you were in, in case you need anything. Please don't hesitate to call me if you do." Sherry smiled at him. "Thank you, Roy. You are a very nice man, do you know that?" Roy smiled at her and then said, "Thank you. Good night and get some sleep." He called to his dogs to follow him, but neither budged. "Traitors," Roy called to them and Sherry laughed. "Good night, Roy."

The next morning dawned bright and sunny once again. The electricity had returned as well. Sherry woke to the smell of coffee brewing. As she sat up, pain shot up her leg. Then it all came flooding back. The storm, the ankle ... oh, no ... she was in Roy Dupuis' home! And she probably looked a sight. North and Kit chose that moment to wander into the living room, fully dressed. It appeared that Roy had dried their clothes when he got up that morning. Sherry struggled to get up. "Get me to the bathroom ladies. I'm not letting that man see me like this!" Kit and North laughed and North helped Sherry to the bathroom and waited for her to get dressed. Once she felt herself presentable, Sherry and North went back to the living room. Kit and Roy were sitting there having breakfast. Roy immediately got up and offered his seat to Sherry. "Don't be silly. Sit down. I can sit here on the sofa where I was." Roy then poured North and Sherry each a cup of coffee and offered them a full menu for breakfast.

Once breakfast was finished and the dishes cleaned away, the girls knew it was time to leave. As they gathered their things together, Roy spoke up. "Please allow me to drive you to your campsite. You do not know what you will find when you get there. And besides, Sherry cannot very well walk that far on her ankle." Knowing he was right, they quickly agreed. North directed Roy to the camping area and they set off. It seened to only take a few minutes for them to get there. What they saw when they arrived was amazing. There was camping gear and equipment all over the place. The storm had apparently taken its toll on everyone who was camping.

Roy offered to help them clean up their site. Kit told him it wasn't necessary, but he insisted, especially since Sherry was injured. He drove them up to their site and helped to gather what remained of their things. The tent was quite the worse for wear. It was ripped in quite a few places and hanging by only two pegs. The sleeping bags inside where soaked. They found their cooler down by the stream and some of their odds and ends strung out all over the place. It took a little while, but they finally collected everything they could find. The only thing that seemed to be missing was Sherry's watch, which she had forgotten to wear yesterday. She had laid it out on her sleeping back to put on after she got dressed, but had forgotten to put it on. They looked around a little while longer, but to no avail. "Oh well," Sherry commented, "I guess it's gone. I wouldn't care, but it was a gift from my parents."

They loaded their things into the back of Roy's blazer and then headed for North's vehicle. After transferring everything to North's car, they turned to Roy. Shaking his hand, North said "Thank you so much for your hospitality and all your help." "Yes, we really appreciate it." Kit added, shaking his hand as well. Roy smiled. "Ladies, you are most welcome. It was a pleasure meeting each of you." Roy turned to help Sherry into the car. She looked at him and said, "Thanks, Roy. Thanks for everything." Roy leaned over, kissed her on the cheek and said, "You are welcome, cherie. And thank you for last night. I hope your ankle heals very quickly. And I'm sure my dogs will miss you terribly." North's and Kit's jaws dropped and they exchanged looks with each other. What in the world was he talking about? What had happened last night?

Roy winked at Sherry and then said to them all. "If you ladies are ever in the area again, please stop by and see me." Turning to look at Sherry again, he continued, "I mean it. I would love to have you visit." With that, he waved and walked to his blazer and drove away. Kit and North jumped into the car. "Okay, give," North started. "What was he talking about? What exactly happened last night?" Kit chimed in from the back seat. "Yeah ... what did you two do?"

Sherry laughed. "You think I'm gonna tell? No way." North put on her best "mom in charge" face and said, "We are not leaving this parking lot until you spill. Now tell us what happened." Sherry laughed again. "It was nothing much. We just talked ... about LFN and Michael." Kit laughed. "Yeah right. You talked. So why would he thank you for talking?"

Sherry sighed. "I don't know. We just started discussing his character, Michael, and other things on the show. He said I seemed to understand his take on Michael better than most people he had spoken with. He wanted to bounce some ideas off me and see how I thought they would be perceived ... he wanted my opinion. So, I gave it to him." Kit laughed. "Yeah, I'll just bet you did!" Sherry shook her head. "I'm serious. He seemed truly interested in what I thought. It was great."

It seemed like such a short trip back to North's house. Before they knew it, they were saying goodbye. "Sherry, when you get back home, you get to the doctor's and have that ankle checked out," North said. Kit chimed in, "Don't worry. I'll see that she does, if I have to take her myself!" They all laughed and hugged goodbye. "We have to do this again sometime, North," Sherry said. "Yeah, and I just bet I know where you want to end up again, too!" Sherry smiled. "Well ... he DID invite us."

When Kit and Sherry got back to Sherry's house, Kit helped her take all her gear in and put it away. Sherry's ankle was beginning to really hurt again, so Kit made her sit down and whipped up a quick supper for them to share. They talked about the wonderful time they had together and, of course, about Roy. They knew the CLHQ sisters would all be envious of them having met Roy. Just as Kit was clearing up the dishes, there was a knock at the door. Sherry struggled to her feet and answered the door. There was an overnight express deliveryman there. He handed Sherry a package and waited for her to sign the delivery slip.

Kit came back into the living room and wanted to know who was at the door. Sherry help up the package. "It was a deliveryman. It's funny. I don't recall ordering anything. I wonder what this could be." She sat back down on the couch and Kit sat down beside her. Sherry opened the box to find a beautiful watch inside. There was a note with it. The note said, "I'm sorry you lost the watch your parents gave you. This cannot replace it, but I hope you will accept it. And I hope you will not forget me as time passes. Until we meet again, A la vie, Roy."

Sherry sat there stunned. Roy Dupuis had bought her a watch to replace the one she had lost. She handed the card to Kit, who was equally dumbstruck. "Well, it seems that somebody made quite an impression," Kit teased. Sherry laughed. "Don't be silly. He was just being nice." Kit smiled. "Yeah, you're right. He was just being nice. Uh, huh. And the kiss on the cheek was just a friendly goodbye. You will notice that neither North nor I got one of those either." Sherry laughed. "Well ..." Kit smiled. "Yeah, ‘well,' is right! I'd say Mr. Dupuis was a tad smitten." Sherry was totally embarrassed now. "Don't be silly, Kit. He was just being kind."

Kit finally had to leave. She had to get back to her family. She made Sherry promise to call the doctor first thing in the morning. "And, I think you should find a way to thank Roy for that lovely gift." Sherry smiled. "I'll try."

Kit left and Sherry headed for the telephone. She dialed the number and waited for someone to pick up. "Hello," came the voice on the other end. "Hey North ... you'll never guess what I just got! And I'm gonna need your help."

The End
