Now mind you I am trying to get this all done is some sort of coherent
order and I am sure there are things I am forgetting and will remember
later! So here we go!
Well, we arrived at the racing track a little late of course we got lost and we got in the wrong line at Canadian customs. We ended up with the line that had a training new customs agent going on. So these guys in the line next to us start waving to us. We wave back with me going why are they waving at us. Then we realize we should have flirted harder since their line was moving much quicker. Alas we ended up waiting half an hour. That sooo threw us off schedule.
So I ended up driving Mach 9 all the way through Quebec. With Curlly yelling at people who cant hear her get out of the way. Well, I did that too. I was like look out for the bitch from the US who must see Roy. LOL! When we got to Granby we saw a motorcycle zooming in back of us and we joked look there is Roy he is running late too LOL! But it wasn't him thankfully or I may have caused an accident.
When we finally arrived and we parked way out in the parking lot. The place was packed. I heard the cars racing and thought no I wont be able to get good pics of Roy cause that was all I thought I was going to get. Curlly and I were running from the parking lot to the race track. Where one of the parking attendants was paying close attention to us or the car LOL! (More on that later) But somehow the fates were kind and it was not the Defivision that had started it was another car race that was being held. Which of course gave us some time to try and find the MAN.
After walking about in some muddy places, (me and Curlly of course wearing sandals but of course a little mud cannot stand in the way of finding Roy), we found the cars that were to used in the Mira race. Well, we stopped in front of a car and scouted out the scene. Then out of the corner of my eye I caught something black. I turned around and it was HIM. I was like Curlly there he is! She was like where? No way! At that point the blood was definitely pumping at a gallop. Dressed all in black with a few buttons open. He was sporting a mega tan that was very appealing. His eyes to me and the girl I was with appeared to me to be very blue that day. I was thinking it was the tan. He was wearing hiking boots and cigarettes were in his front pocket. Hair was longer and he just looked great but a little tired. I was thinking he must have been working at the farmhouse! Coincidentally he ended up at the car that was right in front of us! Talk about luck or something. 26 is so my new lucky number!
He was escorting his driver for the race, Ginette Bouthiller (One lucky lady if you ask me). He was very attentive to her. He settled her into the driver's seat and I assume was discussing the upcoming driving for the race. Then he helped her out of the car so that photos could be taken and there was a tv crew there (no idea which show). After that people started approaching him. All this time I have been snapping pictures like a mad woman to say the least.
Well, I did not need an invitation so I got myself closer to him to have a word with him. Well, perhaps a little Curlly was like go first. At least I hoped that I could speak by the time I got up to him because I could feel each brain cell of mine oozing out by the second the longer I was in his most glorious presence. I did have a smile on my face the whole time though.
Then it happened I met him. I introduced myself and thanked him for all the work he had done on LFN and that I thought he was a great actor. He said thank you quite politely with a smile. He asked where I came from. The I asked him for all you Royettes out there what he had thought of the chair that was donated for him. He said that he was incredibly honored, that he never would have thought of that himself and that he was very proud of it. Then he smiled (THUD) and said he was very grateful to all who helped. He also said it was a great gesture and did I know it had been reported in the journals out there. Then I told him thank you for all the friends I made courtesy of him. He laughed and said he did not hear that everyday. Oh when he is talking to you he leans in and really pays attention. I could not look into his eyes though for long cause I would LOL lose my train of thought! Oh he smelled great too! And he is just a nice guy, I can't emphasize that enough not star airs at all.
Then we posed for the picture and he put his arm around OH DEAR! Well, then I just had to put mine around his waist I mean who could resist! I thanked him again. And walked away very slowly LOL! Curlly went up next and told him I made her come to the race! And he smiled at me! LOL! But I was too busy taking pics of him talking to Curlly if not falling ot the ground would be good.
Anyhow hung around took more pictures. And this is a you will not believe moment I was like blood pressure was racing after meeting him then I felt a pain in my side. LOL the power of Roy.
Oh and his face when he talks to children is the softest most tender look that man can get it was priceless. Then we realized I forgot to ask for his autograph. So we waited till everyone else had spoken to him and I got up there again. Curlly gets up there and asked for an autograph for Cindy cause Curlly is so nice.
He was very gracious when I handed him the Defi program to sign. So I said my name but LOL he did not hear me so I repeated it. Then he said it with a Spanish accent tinged with that French accent in an extended way quite loudly. You know like Rrrrrriiiiitttttaaa. Boy he can roll his r's. What I would have given for a tape recorder! So he wrote out the autograph and I thanked him again. We were the last ones because LOL then he said now I have to concentrate. I wished him luck on the race and then he climbed into the car.
He blessed himself while in the car and he blew a kiss to the ladies there. He was waving while people were taking pics then the race commenced.
The race was definitely a must see event. Even though he did not win he directed his driver around bumpers that had fallen off and some tight squeezing between cars. LOL! At the beginning of the race though he directed his driver to tap into the cars in front of her. Because the race is slow to start. Roy came out of the race safely and smiling!
Then we have to find the car! LOL and boy were we having probs! Until the parking attendant who had observed us before told us where it was LOL! I talked Curlly's ear off the whole ride back to her house. LOL! I think she was going to murder me.
Oh and the next day we went bobsledding on the Olympic track at Lake Placid! Awesome Curlly has those pics!
All in all it was an excellent time, I will never forget it. I am still on a mega mad luscious Roy high! Thanks Curlly for being crazy enough to go with me on the seat of my pants trip and telling me to breathe!
Hugs,
Rita
